Job Title: Functional Skills Tutor
Location: National Delivery (Own transport required)
Salary: Up to £33,000 per annum
Hours: Full-Time
Role Overview:
As a Functional Skills Tutor, you will be responsible for delivering engaging, high-quality training and assessment in Functional Skills (Maths, English, and ICT) up to Level 2. This role focuses on supporting learners to develop essential skills needed for employment, further education, and personal growth. You will create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment, embedding key topics like safeguarding and British values, while ensuring compliance with all administrative duties.
Although efforts will be made to allocate tutors locally, flexibility is required for delivery nationwide. Travel expenses will be reimbursed, including 45p per mile petrol, hotel stays (with breakfast and a meal allowance for the evening), and parking costs. Delivery locations may include Sheffield, Doncaster, Barnsley, Reading, Luton, and other areas.
Key Responsibilities:
Training Delivery:
* Deliver engaging Functional Skills training and assessment in Maths, English, and ICT up to Level 2.
* Facilitate classroom-based sessions tailored to the needs of unemployed individuals, adult learners, and apprentices.
* Embed Employability Skills, Digital Skills, and vocational topics into Functional Skills delivery.
* Use a variety of teaching methods to support learners with different learning needs and styles.
* Incorporate safeguarding, Prevent, EDI (Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion), and British values within lessons.
Learner Support:
* Provide constructive feedback and tailored support to help learners achieve their qualifications and personal goals.
* Adapt teaching materials and strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners.
* Encourage and motivate learners to build confidence and independence in their skills.
* Ensure the safeguarding and well-being of all learners in your care.
Administrative Duties:
* Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress, and achievement.
* Participate in standardisation meetings and contribute to the sharing of best practices.
* Prepare, maintain, and monitor the training environment to meet Health and Safety standards.
* Ensure compliance with all administrative and reporting requirements.

Knowledge & Experience:
Qualifications:
* Full teaching qualification equivalent to Level 3 or above (e.g., PTLLS, DTLLS, Cert Ed, or PGCE).
* Functional Skills Level 2 in Maths, English, and ICT (or equivalent).
* Assessor qualifications (e.g., A1, TAQA, D32/33) are desirable but not essential.
Experience:
* Proven experience in delivering Functional Skills (Maths, English, ICT) to a range of learners.
* Experience working with learners in an educational or workplace environment.
* Knowledge of embedding Employability Skills and safeguarding practices into the curriculum.
* Familiarity with compliance paperwork and learner progress tracking
