Aspiring Psychologist - Mental Health Youth Worker

Are you looking to make a difference in the lives of children and young people? Do you have a passion for mental health?

Then this might be the role for you!

The Role:

The successful Mental Health Youth Worker will be assisting and supporting students who have struggles with their emotions and social behaviour. These students come from backgrounds where they have been exposed to adverse childhood experiences and have trauma, anxiety and depression. They struggle especially with regulating and processing their emotions and managing their behaviour. This creates a difficult time for them in school.

The School:

Look after students between the ages of 3 and 11, with identified social, emotional and mental health needs. They are an outstanding school who prioritise the education and mental well being of their students. They offer fun classes and have an amazing supportive environment.

Day to Day:

The successful Behaviour and Mental Health Support assistant will spend their day to day helping the students in their daily tasks. You will be supported by the class teacher but will also be assisting them with general class duties. This will include helping set up for lessons, clearing up afterwards and helping manage classroom behaviour. This will be done in either a 1:1 basis or in a small group setting. You will be making such a difference in these children's lives.

The Candidate:

The successful Mental Health Youth Workr will be proactive and patient. You will also be adaptable and do well in fast paced environments. You must be determined, confident and passionate about education and helping those vulnerable children.

Previous experience working with children that present with challenging behaviour would be ideal. However, attitude and personality is equally important as you would be a role model for these children.

Aspiring psychologists, therapists and counsellors will benefit greatly from a role like this as you would be adding good experience to your skillset!

Graduates are also encouraged to apply, as well as those with a background in sports, art or drama.
