Key Stage 1 SEN Teaching Assistant

Start Date: Monday, 21st October
School: Northwood Community Primary School, Kirkby
Contract: Full-time, term-time only

The Role:
We are looking for a compassionate and skilled Key Stage 1 SEN Teaching Assistant to provide general support to various pupils with special educational needs across Year 1 and Year 2. You will work with children who need additional assistance to engage with the curriculum and make positive progress in both their academic and personal development.

Key Responsibilities:

Offering general classroom support to children with SEN in Year 1 and Year 2.
Assisting the class teacher in creating and delivering differentiated lesson plans to meet the needs of all pupils.
Supporting small groups or individual pupils to improve academic skills, social inclusion, and behavioural development.
Encouraging independence, self-confidence, and positive behaviour in pupils through tailored interventions.

Person Specification:

Experience working with children with SEN, ideally within Key Stage 1.
A supportive, patient, and nurturing attitude to help children overcome barriers to learning.
Strong communication skills to work effectively with class teachers, SENCOs, and other staff members.
A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is preferred but not essential.
