Client snapshot:

An excellent opportunity has been made available by my client an established housing provider in the UK. My client has a large portfolio of supported living projects and offers generic housing management and supported housing services.

Vacancy Brief:

* The role is that of a Young People Support Worker.

* This is a potential temp to perm job.

* A full-time role, 35 hours per week.

* Candidate will be supporting young people between the ages of 18 to 21 leaving care, or from breaking down family relationship.

* Shift pattern: Early – 8-4pm, late – 12- 8pm. 1 weekend in 4 and 1 late in 3 in a month.

* Pay rate for this job role is £14.71 per hour on PAYE OR £18.22 Umbrella.

* Candidate will require a full UK Driver’s license and access to a vehicle.

* Mileage will be paid at 0.45p per mile for any work-related travel.

* A current Enhanced DBS covering Child and Adult workforce will be required for this job role.

* Managing Between 6 to 9 properties.

The Responsibilities:

* As a Young People Support Worker, your role will be to improve the lives of young people using the service by providing direct housing related support services in conjunction with organisations housing and property management.

* In your role as a young people Support worker, you’ll be working with external agencies with the aim of achieving successful move on and other measurable outcomes. There may also be a requirement to work on your own, within the community or within the service setting.

* Part of your role as a young people Support worker will be to carry out initial assessment of the potential or actual service user, including any risks, or his/her needs and requirements in respect of the service on offer.

* An important part of your role will be to maintain contact on a regular basis with service users in accordance with the requirements of the service.

* Furthermore, you will be required to risk assess and take the necessary actions in respect of any activities with service users including personal safety.

Skill Outcomes of this role:

This role provides an excellent springboard into other criminal justice professions including experience of working with a range of criminal justice agencies.

In addition, you will gain experience in liaising local authority Housing Benefit departments and the DWP to resolve financial issues.
