Renowned for their technical expertise and customer-centric approach, they are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to lead their team and contribute to the successful execution of complex projects.
As a Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you will take a leadership role in designing high-quality electrical systems for substations while managing and mentoring a small team of engineers. This is an exciting opportunity to combine technical expertise with leadership skills to drive the success of critical infrastructure projects.
• Design Leadership: Lead the design of electrical systems for substations, including HV and LV systems, protection schemes, and layout configurations.
• Team Management: Manage and mentor a small team of engineers, providing guidance, support, and development opportunities.
• Project Delivery: Oversee design projects from concept to completion, ensuring adherence to specifications, budgets, and timelines.
• Technical Excellence: Conduct technical reviews and ensure designs comply with industry standards, client requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
• Collaboration: Work closely with clients, project managers, and other stakeholders to deliver optimal solutions.
• Problem-Solving: Address technical challenges and implement effective solutions to ensure project success.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance design processes, tools, and team performance.
Key Skills and Experience:
• Extensive experience in electrical design, with a strong focus on substations and power distribution systems.
• Proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
• Proficiency in using design software and tools such as AutoCAD, ETAP, or similar.
• Deep understanding of HV/LV electrical systems, protection relays, and control schemes.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience working collaboratively across teams and with clients.
Desirable Qualifications:
• Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Professional accreditation (e.g., IET, CEng).
• Experience with grid connection projects or working with utilities.
• Familiarity with relevant standards such as IEC, BS, and G99
