Electronics Systems Engineer – Motorsport | High-Performance Engineering We’re supporting an elite motorsport team in their search for a talented Electronics Systems Engineer to join their world-class engineering department. This is a highly varied and hands-on role that offers the opportunity to work across a wide range of departments and projects – from race car systems and simulators to rig testing and diagnostics.
Whether you're configuring new instrumentation for the next Grand Prix, developing diagnostic software, or integrating a next-gen ECU into a driver-in-loop simulator, this position will challenge and grow your skills in a fast-paced and cutting-edge environment.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and support electronic systems for race cars, simulators (HIL/DIL), test rigs, and R&D facilities.
Own and evolve internal processes and procedures related to electronics systems.
Configure and calibrate instrumentation, data logging, and ECU systems across test and race environments.
Build internal tools for configuration, calibration, data monitoring, and optimisation.
Provide trackside and factory support for testing and race events when needed.
Diagnose faults across sensors, wiring harnesses, ECUs, and embedded systems.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and meet system requirements.
Set up and decode CAN, ARCNET, and Ethernet communications.
Investigate and debug embedded software in Simulink and C.
Analyse telemetry data to assess system health and pinpoint issues.
Develop onboard diagnostic software to support real-time performance and reliability.
What We’re Looking For
A degree in Electronics, Automotive, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or a related field.
Strong foundation in electronic systems theory and data-driven analysis.
Deep understanding of instrumentation, sensors, data loggers, and related hardware.
Experience using McLaren Applied tools such as ATLAS and System Monitor.
Proficiency with Matlab, Simulink, and embedded software debugging.
Familiarity with CAN diagnostic tools (e.g., PCAN, CANalyzer).
Working knowledge of data acquisition and analysis systems in high-speed environments.
Programming experience in C, C#, or .NET is highly desirable.
Flexible, collaborative mindset with the ability to adapt in high-pressure motorsport settings.
Experience in Formula 1 or top-tier motorsport environments is a strong advantage.
A genuine passion for racing and desire to contribute to world-class performance.
Why Apply? This is an exceptional opportunity to contribute to an innovative and driven motorsport organisation working at the cutting edge of automotive technology. You'll be surrounded by passionate engineers and have a direct impact on race car performance and reliability.
