30 hours per week (flexibility in working hours will be required to accommodate evening and weekend events)

Up to £28000 pro rata depending on experience

Fresh Start Recruitment are proud to be working with Sherwood Observatory to recruit a Planetarium Presenter for their new state of the art planetarium in Nottinghamshire. They are a -growing company, they are looking for someone with excitement, initiative and technical skills.

Principal Duties for the Planetarium Presenter are to:

* Motivate learning by undertaking the role of ‘lead ‘presenter of planetarium shows to educational groups and other visitors and supporting their experience through relevant discussion sessions.

* Provide a positive customer experience through the development and delivery of engaging planetarium shows for relevant groups

* Keep up to date with a working knowledge of astronomy suitable to the various audience groups visiting the Centre.

* Ensure that the planetarium software and hardware are maintained in excellent working order, including organising a regular maintenance schedule.

* Ensure a consistently high standard of service is provided to all visitors and contacts to the Centre.

* Support the wider team, including volunteers, through any relevant development opportunities, to improve performance, skills and knowledge to maximise service delivery.

* Support the development of business opportunities to increase visitor numbers and centre income.

Personal Attributes;

* GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent)

* Solid knowledge of astronomy to be able to deliver presentations and respond to clients questions with confidence

* Strong ability to work and communicate with a wide range of clients from school children to corporate clients

* Confidence in using software packages such as Microsoft suite

* Have undertaken presentations or development sessions to a diverse range of audiences

* Motivational speak in order to bring astronomy and science to life

* Creative in order to develop engaging show content
