Electrical Quantity Surveyor

Location: Hemel Hempstead (between the Midlands)

Rate: £350 per day

Hours: Minimum 40 hours a week

Duration: 6 Months’ worth

Start Date: 1st April 2025

Nelson Permanent Placements are currently recruiting on behalf of our client who are an industry-leading Electrical Contractor based in the West Midlands.

They are looking for a highly-motivated and experienced Electrically-biased Quantity Surveyor to join their team. You will need a strong background in Electrical systems and cost management within the Construction or Engineering sectors. You will be required to ensure financial control, cost forecasting and effective contract management across multiple projects.

Please note: This will involve travelling between our client’s Head Office in South Birmingham and the Site in Hemel Hempstead.

Electrical Quantity Surveyor Responsibilities:

* Preparing and manage cost estimates, budgets and procurement for electrical systems (including Low Voltage (LV) Cabling, Lighting Installs and lightning protection systems).

* Conducting quantity take-offs based on project specs and drawings.

* Managing the financial aspects of electrical installs across an Electrical Warehouse Install.

* Preparing detailed cost estimates, budgets and forecasts for electrical works.

* Evaluating and managing sub-contractor accounts (including valuations, payments and contract compliance).

* Conducting risk analysis and providing proactive solutions.

* Working with project managers, engineers and site teams to drive project objectives.

* Preparing and submitting valuations, final accounts and variations in line with contract requirements.

* Monitoring and reporting on project costs (to ensure budget alignment).

* Managing control processes and providing cost advice for design changes.

* Ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.

Requirements:

* Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor (within an Electrical, Construction or Engineering capacity).

* A strong knowledge in Electrical Installations and Materials (on M&E Projects).

* A Valid Quantity Surveying/Electrical Engineering Degree (or equivalent).

* Proficient in using Microsoft Office (including Excel).
