The Role

As a Heating Engineer, you will play a vital role in maintaining and repairing heating systems for our customers, ensuring they have reliable and efficient heating in their homes. This role primarily involves servicing and repairing gas boilers, with opportunities for training and development in renewable energy systems, such as air source heat pumps and solar thermal, as well as oil and LPG heating systems. You will also be involved in domestic plumbing repairs and the installation of heating systems.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Gas Boiler Servicing and Repairs: Complete servicing and repairs to gas boilers and heating systems, ensuring they function efficiently and safely.

• Renewable Heating Systems: Service and repair renewable heating systems, including air source heat pumps and solar thermal, with full training provided.

• Oil and LPG Systems: Service and repair oil and LPG heating systems, with training provided to expand your skill set.

• Plumbing Repairs: Carry out necessary repairs to domestic plumbing systems, ensuring all work meets high standards.

• Heating System Installation: Install gas boiler and heating systems, ensuring compliance with relevant technical standards.

• Minor Building Works: Perform minor building works associated with heating repairs, such as making good flue areas, brick replacement, and minor plastering work.

• Quality Assurance: Ensure all work is completed to a defined quality and in accordance with technical standards.

• Proactive Support: Support supervisors and management in achieving targets and maintaining high standards.

• Record Keeping: Accurately complete all necessary records and paperwork on time.

• Liaison and Coordination: Work closely with colleagues and customers to ensure repairs and maintenance works are completed efficiently.

• Material Management: Make effective use of materials, ensuring any unused items are returned to stores.

• Training and Development: Participate in meetings, training, and development activities to stay up to date with current legislation and best practices.

• Customer Experience: Provide an excellent customer experience, responding to feedback and ensuring customer satisfaction.

Health and Safety:

• Safety Compliance: Be responsible for your own health, safety, and welfare, as well as that of others affected by your work, adhering to all relevant Health and Safety regulations.

• Regulation Updates: Keep up to date with changes in building regulations and codes of practice.

• Vehicle Maintenance: Perform daily/weekly checks on any provided vehicles, ensuring they are clean, tidy, and well-maintained. Report any defects or damage promptly.

Additional Duties:

• Customer Liaison: Liaise and consult with customers, ensuring their needs and feedback are addressed.

• Asset Management: Be responsible for clothing, equipment, vehicles, and materials issued, ensuring they are well-maintained and accounted for.

• On-Call Duties: Respond to emergencies outside of normal office hours, including participating in the on-call rota.

• Corporate Representation: Embrace and promote the Association's corporate image, mission, and values through personal conduct and professionalism.

• Value for Money: Assist in delivering an effective, value-for-money maintenance service.

Who We're Looking For:

• Qualified Professional: Experience in servicing and repairing gas boilers and heating systems, with a willingness to train in renewable energy systems, oil, and LPG systems.

• Customer-Focused: A strong commitment to providing excellent customer service and maintaining positive relationships with clients.

• Safety-Conscious: A thorough understanding of and commitment to Health and Safety regulations.

• Organised and Detail-Oriented: The ability to manage workload effectively, complete paperwork accurately, and ensure all tasks are completed to a high standard.

• Team Player: A collaborative approach to working with colleagues and supporting the overall objectives of the team.

• Flexible and Reliable: Willingness to participate in on-call duties and respond to emergencies as needed.

• Driving Licence: A valid driving licence and the confidence to drive as part of your role.

Essential Qualifications:

• CCN1 (Core Domestic Gas Safety)

• CENWAT (Central Heating Boilers & Water Heaters)

• CKR1 (Domestic Cookers)

• HTR1 (Gas Fires & Wall Heaters)

• UHW (Unvented Hot Water Systems)
