About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed English Teacher to join our team on a permanent basis. This role involves delivering engaging English lessons that foster a love for literature, language, and critical thinking. The successful candidate will be passionate about English, able to inspire students across a range of abilities, and committed to creating a supportive and stimulating learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality English lessons to students across Key Stages 3, 4, and potentially Key Stage 5.
Inspire students to develop their reading, writing, and analytical skills while encouraging a deep appreciation for literature and language.
Assess, monitor, and support student progress, providing constructive feedback and targeted interventions when needed.
Collaborate with colleagues to develop and enhance the English curriculum, incorporating diverse and contemporary literature.
Participate in department meetings, parents' evenings, and school events as required.
Uphold school policies, including safeguarding, and contribute to the school's ethos and values.
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
Proven experience teaching English at the secondary level, ideally up to GCSE level.
Strong subject knowledge in English literature and language, with familiarity with curriculum standards.
Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
Commitment to inspiring and motivating students through creative and innovative teaching.
Desirable Qualities
Experience teaching A-Level English is advantageous.
Enthusiasm for incorporating diverse voices, themes, and perspectives into the curriculum.
Interest in professional development and continuous learning in the field of English education.
