Job Title: Estimator – Groundworks and Construction

Location: Uttoxeter
Salary: Competitive, depending on experience
Reports to: Senior Estimator

About the Role:
As an Estimator, you will be a key member of the team, responsible for determining the works required and establishing the best contract price to deliver projects efficiently. This will involve liaising with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain accurate pricing within strict deadlines. You will manage the financial elements of tenders, ensuring minimal risk exposure while identifying opportunities for cost savings.

Key Responsibilities:

Produce accurate customer quotations based on the information provided.

*

Manage project costs and ensure they remain within forecasts.

*

Compile detailed bids for work, including costs for materials, labour, equipment, and transport.

*

Build and maintain relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.

*

Assess client requirements, clarify expectations, and provide appropriate solutions.

*

Prepare and submit competitive bids and quotations.

*

Visit construction sites to assess and monitor project needs.

*

Stay up-to-date with industry trends, inflation, and relevant construction technologies.

*

Ensure all work adheres to health and safety regulations and best practices.

Person Specification:

*

Essential:

*

Experience as an estimator in groundworks or construction

*

Strong numerical and analytical skills.

*

Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.

*

Experience with CAD or working with drawings.

*

Ability to work to tight deadlines and handle pressure effectively.

*

Knowledge of construction best practices and standards.

*

Proficiency with software such as Excel, Word, and Bluebeam.

*

Desirable:

*

HNC/HND/BSc in Construction or Engineering.

*

Industry experience in both new build and refurbishment projects.

*

Experience managing construction projects from start to finish.

*

Advanced computer skills and technical proficiency.
