We are seeking a highly experienced Finance Director to lead our financial strategy and ensure the organisation's long-term financial health. The Role:
As Finance Director, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing all aspects of GBN's financial operations, including budgeting, reporting, accountability, and compliance. Leading a team of finance professionals, you will be responsible for driving financial strategy, supporting business growth, and managing high-level negotiations for GBN's funding and five-year Spending Review, which will define the organisation's financial trajectory. This role is critical to ensuring the financial sustainability and success of GBN's operations, with spending expected to grow from £60m per annum to several hundred million as the Programme advances.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement comprehensive financial strategies aligned with GBN's objectives and the unique demands of the nuclear industry.
Lead the annual budget, forecasting processes, and the five-year Spending Review approach.
Oversee financial reporting, ensuring timely and accurate preparation of financial statements and the GBN Annual Report.
Manage financial compliance and risk, ensuring GBN adheres to all regulatory, licensing, and governance requirements.
Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of collaboration, ethical standards, and professional development.
Provide strategic financial advice to senior management, the GBN Board, and the Audit and Risk Committee.
Build relationships with external auditors, the National Audit Office, and other key stakeholders to ensure transparency and accountability.
Lead the production of finance policies, procedures, and practices, advising subsidiaries as they form.
What We're Looking For:
Proven experience in senior financial leadership roles within the nuclear industry or similarly complex, highly regulated sectors.
Strong knowledge of financial principles, accounting standards (GAAP, IFRS), and best practices.
Demonstrated ability to lead high-performing finance teams and manage large budgets.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial data clearly to senior stakeholders.
Experience working with government-funded Arm's Length Bodies is highly desirable.
A strong understanding of financial regulations, compliance, and corporate governance within the nuclear or related industries.
Qualifications:
Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or relevant experience.
Professional qualifications such as CPA, CFA, or equivalent are highly preferred.
