S3 Science are currently recruiting for our clients Biomedical Research Centre who are one of the world’s premier institutions for inspiration teaching and life changing research. They are offering a great opportunity for a Trainee Animal Technician to join their team on a full-time permanent basis, they are also offering a starting salary of £25,000 to £27,000.

Job responsibilities:

* Basic husbandry tasks of rodents including feeding and watering of the animals, health checks, cage cleaning and washing and taking care of animal nutrition

* You will also work with aquatics providing husbandry

* Weaning of transgenic mice

* Record keeping and assisting with regulated procedures as and when required

* Ensure animal welfare is up to date and any concerns reported to the NACWO

* To follow the clients Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)

Job requirements:

* Experience working and caring for animals

* Husbandry experience with rodents (preferred)

* Previous experience with handling mice and rats would be beneficial

* At least 6 months experience working in a research facility would be beneficial

* Animal care management certificate or similar (preferred)
