Job Description:

Smart Education is seeking a dedicated and skilled Functional Skills Tutor to work in Wolverhampton. This role offers flexibility and the opportunity to make a real difference in the educational journey of young people. As a Functional Skills Tutor, you will have the flexibility to work between 10 and 40 hours per week, providing personalised tuition to students aged 4 to 24 in their homes or at a tuition centre.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver high-quality Functional Skills tutoring.

Conduct assessments to identify each student’s educational needs and tailor lessons accordingly.

Plan and prepare lessons with 2 hours of dedicated planning and preparation time per student.

Write detailed reports and provide ongoing assessments to track student progress.

Work with young people who may have behavioural challenges or special educational needs, adapting teaching methods to meet their requirements.

Ensure that tuition is delivered in a safe and supportive environment, whether at the student’s home or a tuition centre.

Requirements:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

Enhanced DBS check or willingness to obtain one.

Proven experience in assessing, report writing, and curriculum planning using the National Curriculum.

Experience working with young people who have behavioural challenges or special educational needs is advantageous.

Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
