We are recruiting on behalf of a prestigious and well-established manufacturer of Health & Beauty Products. Due to their continued growth, development and demand they are seeking to employ an experienced Machine Setter & Operator for their Thetford site.

They work with some of the world’s biggest brand owners, contract manufacturing household brands, and we also manufacture own label product for some of the UK’s biggest retailers.

Competitive salary offered of £13.00 per hour dependent on experience and skills.

Shift will be Monday to Friday – 6am to 3pm

Reporting directly to the Senior Setter.

Purpose of the role:

To Set up and operate the production lines accurately according to specification, to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the line without any deviation and flagging any deviation with a cause.

Duties to Include but not limited to the following areas:

Set up production line according to the specification.

Loading components (bottle, roller balls, caps etc.) as listed in the specification.

Setting up the nozzles to the correct fill level, to achieve the specified weight.

Setting the capping machine to the torque specified.

Choosing and loading front and back labels, examples of which are included in the specification. Ensuring that the bar codes are correct.

Fault find and remedy any line issues resulting in out of spec product and escalate after 15mins if unable to rectify.

Supporting Changeovers

Flush the lines, filler tank, filter and nozzles with water or alcohol as appropriate, as per the cleaning procedure.

Bring in a container of the new product, checking I/codes.

Bring in boxes of the new components, as detailed in the specification.

Set up the fill levels and cap torque as detailed in the specification.

Line Operation.

Operating the line at the speed prescribed or better than planned.

Identify and log any issues resulting in not achieving planned rate.

Loading components (bottle, roller balls, caps etc.) as listed in the specification.

Adjusting the nozzles to the correct fill level if required, to achieve the specified weight.

Adjusting the capping machine to the torque specified if required.

Choosing and loading front and back labels, examples of which are included in the specification. Ensuring that the bar codes are correct.

Change shrink film as and when required.

Remove clean and store ready for next set up all parts at the end of the run.

Support Operatives.

Direct line service regarding correct components/labels etc.

Change label reels/bottles/product when required causing minimum downtime.

Ensure Quality checks are carried out and documented as per the spec and product matches gold seal sample

Ensure any deviation form specification/gold seal are escalated immediately to management

Ensure that pallets of products when finished are checked and that they are packed as detailed in the specification.

When the product container is running out, to ensure another is available to minimise.

Perform hourly weight checks and bottle counts to ensure that any deviations from the specification are spotted within an hour and that target rates are being achieved.

Ensure that end of the run stock is counted, palletised, and removed from line before any new product is loaded before being returned to the warehouse.

Training

Training of new Operatives.

Support all line specific refresher training.

Identify skill gaps within the team and agree focused plan of improvement.

Ensure all Operatives are competent in all aspects of working on the line

Identify personal training needs/gaps and share with Supervisors/Managers

Relationships

Ensure close working relationship with Supervisors and Operations Manager

Maintain a happy working environment for all staff and one of open dialogue

Work with Quality to support investigations on quality failures.

Work with Health and Safety to support team engagement & culture.

Support the Site Engineers as and when required.

In the absence of the Engineer/Senior Setter take ownership of repairs or liaison with Production to remedy the issue as quickly as practicable.
