Job Title: Caretaker/Bulk Driver
Location: Mile end, East London
Permanent, full time, 35 hours per week
Salary band £26,700 - £28,500
Job Overview:
A housing provider is seeking a dedicated and reliable Caretaker/Bulk Driver to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and maintenance across communal areas of housing estates. This role combines caretaking duties to maintain estate cleanliness and bulk refuse collection. The ideal candidate will possess a valid driving licence, as driving will be a key component of the role in bulk refuse collection and related duties.
Key Responsibilities:
Caretaking Duties:
Maintain cleanliness in communal areas, including cleaning tasks with specialist equipment and chemicals.
Attend to routine tasks, including defect reporting, and assist with snow clearance, leaf clearing, and the application of salt during adverse weather.
Record incidents of environmental crime and anti-social behaviour, and report these to the relevant team.
Deliver letters to various locations as requested and provide temporary caretaking cover when necessary.
Inspect and maintain communal estate lighting, replacing bulbs when needed.
Bulk Driving Duties:
Drive a designated route around housing estates to collect bulk refuse and deposit it at the appropriate facilities.
Ensure proper vehicle and equipment checks are made before use.
Record daily collections and report fly-tipping or rubbish dumping incidents.
Deliver materials and equipment as requested.
Contribute to ensuring safe access to dwellings and communal areas during adverse weather. Skills and Qualifications:
Working knowledge of Health & Safety practices regarding materials and equipment use.
Proven communication skills, both verbal and written, including the ability to complete work records and incident reports.
Previous experience in cleaning and using relevant cleaning materials and equipment.
Must hold a valid driving licence and be able to drive a vehicle safely.
Physically capable of performing the duties required, including estate maintenance tasks. Personal Qualities:
