Interim Head of Financial Accounting - Higher Education

Location: Hybrid/London
Day Rate: £800-£1000 (Inside IR35) dependant on experience
Contract Length: 6-9 months

Our higher education client is seeking an Interim Head of Financial Accounting to lead their financial reporting function during a critical period.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver the Group Financial Statements and manage the statutory audit within strict deadlines.
Oversee the Financial Accounting team, ensuring high-quality financial reporting in a complex environment.
Lead the year-end process, working closely with a Big 4 audit firm to resolve technical accounting and audit issues.
Work flexibly, at times supporting the Deputy Head of Financial Accounts and at other times leading the team.
Collaborate with the Finance Director and wider finance team.
Prepare complex consolidations and be fully hands-on with general ledger postings when required.

Essential Experience:

CCAB Qualified
Proven experience leading complex year-end processes.
Strong technical accounting expertise and ability to manage competing priorities.
Hands-on experience in consolidations and general ledger postings.
Ability to balance strategic leadership with a detailed, hands-on approach.
