Systems Engineer / West Norfolk / Salary up to £50,000K depending on the experience.

Position 1 Recruitment are looking for a Systems Engineer to join our client’s manufacturing site.

As a Systems Engineer, you will be working with design, develop implement, and maintain automated systems. You will use your skills in PLC and HMI programming, electrical control systems, and hands-on assembly to improve production processes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

* Design, develop, and implement PLC and HMI software for various automation projects using industry-standard languages (Ladder Logic, Structured Text, Function Block Diagrams).

* Collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineers to ensure system integration and functionality.

* Participate in the design review process and provide technical expertise on PLC, HMI, and electrical control aspects.

* Specify and issue electrical hardware parts lists and control panels, ensuring compatibility with chosen PLC platforms.

* Fabricate, fit, and assemble electrical and pneumatic components of various mechanical and electrical systems when required.

* Perform site visits for installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of automation systems.

* Prepare technical documentation, including PLC and HMI code, control panel schematics, user manuals, and maintenance records.

* Maintain high quality through constant monitoring and inspection of electrical systems and product functionality.

* Test products, troubleshoot potential issues, and report malfunctions to minimize problems or recalls.

* Proactively communicate with colleagues, managers, and potentially customers regarding project progress and any issues.

* Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in PLC, HMI technologies, electrical control systems, and relevant safety regulations.

* Participate in training programs (PLC logic, internal and supplier training) for continuous skill development.

* Develop and write Functional Design Specifications (FDS) documents for automation projects, clearly outlining system functionalities, user interactions, and operational scenarios.

The ideal candidate for the Systems Engineer role will have extensive experience in engineering and a strong knowledge of Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and Human-Machine Interface (HMI) software. Proficiency in industry-standard languages such as Ladder Logic, Structured Text, and Function Block Diagrams is essential. Candidates must be able to work independently, meet objectives, and take full responsibility for their work.

Essential Qualifications:

– Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering

– Experience with PLC and HMI programming across multiple platforms (Omron, Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi)

This is a full-time, permanent position Monday to Friday with 40 hours a week. The role offers 28 days of annual leave, inclusive of all bank holidays
