We have a great opportunity at HMYOI Wetherby to join the education team as our Head of Inclusion on a permanent, full-time basis, working 37 hours a week.
As the Head of Inclusion, you will Effectively manage all support and inclusion services, and staff, within the YOI to ensure the right support is in place for learners to receive the appropriate and most effective methods of support intervention. In close liaison with other YOI departments and staff, ensure that the special educational needs and disabilities of all learners are identified, assessed, and met. Ensure that comprehensive individual learner Educational Health and Care Plans (EHC Plans) are in place, regularly updated and monitored as learners' progress through education and on in to mainstream education, training or employment.

What we need from you

To be successful in the role of Head of Inclusion you will be required to:

Effective day to day planning and management of Inclusivity staff (including sub-contract workers where appropriate), deploying staff in line with strategy that enagages with all learners with the aim of integration, inclusion and maximising their potential.
Provide appropriate specialist support and training for all education staff and appropriate YOI staff working within the establishment.
Ensure the safeguarding of learners while in custody, including training of staff and maintaining accurate records.
Effective contract management of sub-contracted agencies working within education support and inclusion services in the YOI.
Oversee and have strategic responsibility for an effective Outreach service within the YOI.
Use data to ensure contract compliance and informing the delivery of, and access to appropriate learning and skills programmes.
Working with the Deputy Head of Education, plan and manage the effective allocation of learners to relevant and appropriate education provision, action planning, learner contracts and the creation of Individual Learning Plans.
In liaison with YOI business partners develop and implement appropriate policies, strategies and processes to meet the special education and training needs of learners.
Train teaching and business partner staff in the provision of appropriate support for learners with special educational needs, including safeguarding and equality & diversity. Essentia Qualifications required:

Degree or equivalent
Teaching qualification - minimum Cert Ed or PGCE
Hold a SEN(D) qualification at Level 4 or above.
Hold at least a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy.Colleague Benefits
