Due to the continued growth of our school, we are looking to recruit a passionate and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our wonderful team.
The Role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside class teachers and other support staff to deliver tailored support to students with a range of learning difficulties and disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), and Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD). Your role will involve providing one-to-one and group support in both academic and social settings, assisting with personal care when necessary, and helping to create an inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with varying levels of special educational needs.
Assist in the delivery of individual education plans (IEPs) and learning activities.
Support students with personal care and mobility needs when required.
Foster positive relationships with students, encouraging their personal and academic growth.
Contribute to the creation of a safe and engaging learning environment.
Work closely with the SENCO, teachers, and other support staff to monitor student progress and adapt strategies as needed.
Assist with the development and implementation of behavioural strategies to support students' social and emotional well-being.
Attend meetings and contribute to the planning and review of student progress.About You:
We are looking for someone who is:
Passionate about supporting children with special educational needs.
Patient, compassionate, and adaptable in your approach to learning and behaviour.
Able to work well as part of a team, but also capable of using your initiative.
Ideally experienced in working with children or adults with special educational needs (though not essential).
Familiar with, or willing to learn about, a range of SEND provisions, including autism, speech and language needs, and learning disabilities.
Confident in using IT for learning purposes and communication.Desirable Qualifications & Experience:
Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
Experience in a similar role in an SEN environment.
Training in relevant areas (e.g., ASD, Makaton, PECS, First Aid) is a plus.Why Join Us?
