AKTON Recruitment is working closely with the local authorities and we are looking for a Personal Advisor in the Southwark area.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To work closely with the practice group to support and enable young people who are currently in care
and those who have left care and are eligible for leaving care services to make a successful transition
to adulthood through practical and planned interventions.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Work in partnership with the young person, carers, and other professionals to assess the young person needs and undertake actions to address need.
2. Manage the caseload as directed and organise and plan work activities prioritising tasks and responsibilities.
3. Provide written and verbal reports, which are concise, informative and based on analysis of complex evidence.
4. Contribute to the drawing up, implementing and reviewing of the young person plan.
5. Work with key professionals from the department and externally to offer advice and implement pathway plans

Knowledge
1. Knowledge of the health, education, training and work experience needs of young people and how these can be met
2. An understanding of the needs of children looked after, and care leavers.
3. Knowledge of relevant legal and regulatory framework relating to children, young people and families, particularly leaving care regulations.
4. Knowledge and understanding of the problems and issues faced by people living in an inner city, multi-racial/cultural community

Experience
5. Experience of working directly with vulnerable children or young people, in a professional or voluntary capacity.
6. Experience group work with young people and delivery of intervention programmes.
7. Experience of using new technology for word processing and data input
