The Opportunity
Due to project expansion, an incredible opportunity has opened up for an experienced Electrical Engineer to join a well respected Engineering Consultancy in the Nuclear Defence Sector.
Based out of HMNB Clyde, near Glasgow, you will be working remotely, with occasional travel to site, providing Electrical Engineering support to various projects across the site.
This role is offered on a contract basis, Inside IR35 and for 37 hours per week for an initial 12-month period.
Location: HMNB Clyde - REMOTE
Rate: £50.00 - £60.00/hr Umbrella
You MUST be a sole British National and be eligible for, or already hold, SC Clearance.
Your duties and responsibilities will be
Technical excellence in the specification, production and assessment of design packages for infrastructure.
Specification of reliability and operational constraints for infrastructure.
Assessment of work control procedures for maintenance of infrastructure.
Assessment of infrastructure design, material state, qualification and ageing mechanisms to permit the continued operation of facilities and utilities.
Discharge and display a robust safety and security culture.
Ensure outputs of safety related contracts meet the contract requirements and appropriate safety requirements by acting as an intelligent customer.You will have the following qualifications & experience
Broad experience in electrical engineering, preferably with experience of some of the following electrical systems; HV/MV distribution, LV distribution, protection systems, C&I systems, electrical machines including synchronous motor, frequency changers, diesel alternators
Ability to provide practical, creative and cost-effective solutions for design changes / modifications of plant and supporting Infrastructure.
A good understanding of British and international design standards.
A track record of making intelligent evidence-based decisions using various sources of data.
Good skills in verbal and written communication.
The ability to effectively manage and prioritise your own workload.
HNC or Equivalent Qualifications/Experience in a relevant Engineering Discipline.It’s great if you also have the following
Incorporated Engineer Status or Equivalent experience and standing
Degree or equivalent qualification or experience.
Experience of working within the nuclear industry or any other high hazard industry, although this is not considered essential. The setting for the role
Risks and Hazards are in line with working on a nuclear licenced site. These can include, nuclear fuel, radiation, chemicals and gasses, high voltage equipment, moving vehicles, flammable materials, high pressure circuits, steam, high noise and vibration levels. A full site induction will be provided and all safety requirements must be adhered to when entering the site.
