Youth Programme Officer - Believe & Achieve
Location: Hybrid (minimum of 1 day per week from our office in Stroud, Gloucestershire)
Salary: £24,000 to £26,000 per annum (pro rata)
Role Status: 28 to 35 hours per week

As a centre of expertise for meningitis after care and support, we have established and delivered a successful programme of support for young people aged 11–25 years who have been impacted by meningitis. This programme of support, Believe & Achieve (B&A), is UK wide.
We are looking for a Youth Programme Officer to take ownership of our online activities and help to successfully deliver Believe & Achieve. The role will assist several strands of the programme, including online event delivery, social media channels and referrals, and support for counselling, coaching and mentoring.

Duties and Responsibilities
This role is pivotal in building and managing an online community for young people impacted by meningitis and helping them to access activities and support.
Events and Communications
Create content for and manage the programme's social media channels, to inform and build a community of young people impacted by meningitis.
Plan and deliver a suite of online events that enable young people to feel part of a community, whilst supporting their mental health and improving skills and confidence.
Support face-to-face events across the year – usually delivered at a weekend up to 4 times a year.
Ensure B&A publicity is up to date and assist in the coordination of merchandise that fits with the brand.
Work closely with digital colleagues to plan content and ensure a joined-up approach.
Engage and build relationships with key stakeholders who can help amplify the voice of young people experiencing meningitis.
Service Development and Delivery
Assist the B&A Youth Work Coordinator in the development and delivery of peer mentoring and next step mentoring.
Assist in the recruitment and training of volunteer 'peer mentors' to support young people.
Assist in the recruitment and training of volunteer 'next step' mentors to support young people.
Support the monitoring and recording of all activity relating to mentoring activities.
Maintain regular communication and updates with 'peer mentors' and 'next step' mentors.
Operations and Impact Measurement
Ensure B&A works effectively in supporting young people through the programme, including impact measurement activities to demonstrate the difference the programme makes.
Work closely with the partnerships team to showcase the work of B&A and assist with providing reports to funders.
Assist in creating reports to inform teams and stakeholders about B&A, with an emphasis on storytelling.
Work closely with all teams to promote and communicate the programme’s activities.
Maintain accurate records on all young people involved in the programme in accordance with policies and procedures.
Contribute to operational and departmental planning.
Ensure compliance on issues relating to insurance, Health and Safety, safeguarding, volunteer support, programme development and prepare risk assessments for the programme.
Take responsibility for own training and professional development as agreed with the Support Services Manager.
Ensure all financial, administration, Human Resources and technology systems are adhered to and implemented.

Essential Selection Criteria
Experience of supporting young people and an understanding of the factors that influence their lives
Experience of using social media to support and engage young people
Experience of planning and delivering online events
Experience of Microsoft Office 365
Ability to empathise, as often working with individuals who have been affected by meningitis
Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with a diverse range of individuals/organisations
Excellent relationship management
Excellent organisation and prioritising skills
Team worker and able to work independently
Excellent time management skills and ability to work to multiple deadlines
Desirable Selection Criteria
Experience of working with volunteers
Awareness of the issues facing individuals affected by meningitis
Experience of working within the charity/voluntary sector
Experience of using a CRM database e.g. Salesforce
Experience of Project Management

Out of hours working, travel and attendance at events
Full driving licence required
