The role

We are looking for an experienced financial controller to implement and manage the financial strategy, supporting sustainable growth whilst promoting a strong control environment within the finance and procurement teams.

As Head of Finance you will lead by example demonstrating strong financial management skills and providing key leadership and support to the finance and procurement teams, ensure all line management responsibilities are fulfilled and encouraging continuous development to create a strong team ethos.

An idea of what you'll be doing:

* Ensure a strong control environment leading to accurate and timely preparation and completion of company records and statutory accounts and for the protection of company assets.

* Responsible for the monthly management accounts, including the financial management of all ongoing projects and the associated revenue and cost recognition

* Lead the quarterly forecast and annual budgeting process, monitoring performance, compiling annual budget reports and providing recommendations for cost optimisation.

* Responsibility for all financial audits, including the annual statutory audit and 6 monthly bank audits.

* Oversee sustainable cash flow management, supporting the team in managing short and medium term cash flows and reviewing credit control procedures are appropriate; including associated weekly reporting to the Board.

* Oversee monthly balance sheet reconciliation, identifying and promptly clearing reconciling items

* Lead financial analysis through partnering with heads of department to review variance analysis, assess financial models, and provide financial insights to support decision-making.

* Deliver weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting packs for the board including reporting risks and opportunities and maintaining the Company’s Risk Register

* Maintaining and maximising our Invoice Financing Facility with our funders.

Requirements

You'll have a proven track record of:

*

Creating, developing and leading the financial strategy; including management of year end audits, preparation of quarterly forecasts and management of cost controls that support short and long-term financial planning.

Lead the financial aspects of CVR reviews with project managers, to ensure each project maintains it’s margin, challenging where projects start to slip and ensuring strong actions are agreed

*

Optimise performance and cost-effectiveness through setting and monitoring team KPIs in alignment with business wide objectives.

You'll already have experience & qualifications in:

* Good understanding of the construction industry, working with project based accounting

* Experience of preparing monthly management accounts

* Proven strong analytical experience, with responsibility for the business forecasting and annual budgetary processes

* Experience of managing a balance sheet

* Experience in stakeholder management

* Qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA) with 3-4 years post qualified experience

* Qualification in Excel or demonstrative skills to a high level
