Job Description: Senior Engineer (12-Month Contract) - Inside IR35

Location: Glasgow
Contract Duration: 12 months
IR35 Status: Inside IR35

Job Purpose:
As a Senior Engineer, you will be responsible for managing and delivering engineering and technical activities. You will utilize your domain knowledge and experience to resolve complex technical issues, compile technical reports, and provide expert guidance on specifications in line with stakeholder requirements. This role requires a highly experienced engineer with a deep understanding of a specialist subject area. You will also be expected to mentor and coach junior team members, foster strong relationships with stakeholders, and work independently or as part of a small team.

Key Responsibilities:

Promote effective collaboration across Engineering and other functional teams.
Assist in managing customer relationships, including developing new and existing customer relations, resolving technical and delivery issues, and keeping customers informed of progress.
Ensure that procedures, codes, and standards are accurately identified and applied to all engineering and technical activities.
Contribute to the Project Safety Assessment process and ensure task and project risks are effectively communicated and managed.
Produce, review, and approve calculations, analyses, drawings, models, design basis documentation, and technical reports as required.
Evaluate the implications of changes, concessions, and queries, ensuring the maintenance of engineering configuration and overall design intent throughout the project lifecycle.
Develop proposals for technical investigations and process improvements based on identified technical issues.
Provide support to the Project Manager in planning, controlling, and delivering tasks and projects.
Make informed engineering decisions within your area of responsibility and delegated authority.
Act as the Technical Authority or Engineering Lead when authorized.
Uphold the highest standards of health and safety within your area of responsibility and ensure compliance with company standards on health, safety, environment, ethics, and behaviours.
Continuously update your knowledge in relevant technical areas and develop the skills necessary for effective project delivery. Support the promotion of engineering best practices and contribute to cultural development and change.
Contribute to the Learning from Experience (LfE) process during and after project completion.
Support business development by contributing to or reviewing tender requirements, including cost estimates.
Experience/Qualifications/Skills:

Essential:

Engineering degree (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant engineering discipline, with significant demonstrable experience.
Chartered Engineer status (or actively working toward Chartered Status).
Proven experience in working collaboratively within multi-discipline teams to deliver a range of project types.
Demonstrable experience in managing complex tasks across various engineering projects.
Strong communication skills and the ability to interface effectively with other disciplines.
Desirable:

Membership in a relevant engineering institute or significant engineering experience with eligibility for registration with the Engineering Council.
Experience in managing engineering scope for projects from concept design to full Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC).
Broad experience in commercial or defence projects
