QA Technician

The position is to implementation of company processes and procedures to ensure safety, quality, and legality of products are in line with legislative and customer requirements. Experience or knowledge of the food industry good manufacturing practices and hygiene standards would be advantageous

Responsible for:

Health and Safety – ensuring that safe and established working practises are followed by personnel at all times. Actioning any health and safety issues and reporting them to the Quality Manager/ Shift Manager.

Food Safety – understanding the principles of HACCAP, food safety risks and the controls in place to minimise these risks. Communicating all food safety issues with the relevant departments as and when appropriate.

Product Quality – ensuring a high-quality output of products and always maintaining the high standards already established by the company.

* Completing hourly line quality assurance checks including weight verification, labelling checks and also ensuring product quality attribute standards are met.

* Completing hourly metal detection CCP checks including the start and the end of the run.

* Printing and signing off all labels used within manufacturing. This includes those required for raw materials and work in progress.

* Updating the hold log as required.

* Setting up the manufacturing line and completing visual checks on the hygiene prior to the next run.

* Signing off all stages of the hygiene clean down.

* Collecting samples for microbiological testing.

* Collecting retained samples for EOL testing and retention for each product run.

* Completing analytical tests on each production run for salt analysis.

* Completing moisture tests on raw materials and finished products.

* Completing daily inputting into manufacturing systems such as the production record and lot numbers if required.

* Verifying coding line start up checks on the sandiacres.

* Printing the production paperwork for each product run assigning the correct Julian code.

* Operating the checkweighers allowing programme set up and end of line till roll print checks to be completed.

* Completing goods inward checks against the QAS specification.

* Daily and weekly scale calibrations.

* Daily and weekly glass and plastic audits

* Be able to explain, issue, complete, check, file, store & retrieve QA / audit documents.

Qualifications

* Level 2 Food Hygiene and Safety

* Level 2 Award in Food Safety for Manufacturing

Skills

* Excellent communication skills

* Strong problem-solving skills

* Excellent organisation and time management skills

* Strong computer literacy especially in Microsoft applications
