Accounts Assistant

The Role

We are currently looking for an experienced Accounts Assistant/Credit Controller, ideally with a background in retail or manufacturing.

The successful applicant will have dealt with UK and International debtors and worked with foreign currency payments, possess good communication skills and the ability to build and maintain good working relationships internally and externally.

A keen attention to detail and excellent reconciliation skills to clear up any issues on the customer accounts would be highly beneficial.

Initiative and desire to maintain the customer accounts to help with more accurate cash flow
forecasting.

Main Duties and Responsibility

Managinga high number of customer accounts and ensuring an even spread of calls across the area as per agreed plan
Posting and allocating receipts to the relevant customer accounts on a daily basis
Collecting overdue debt by telephone, letter and email
Chasing up and resolving debit notes on ‘major’ accounts, and reconciling periodically
Dealing with customer queries quickly and accurately
Maintaining and updating customer master files to ensure consistent and accurate customer information.
Raising credit notes
Stop list management, and escalating issues to the credit manager
Posting journals
General administration
You may be asked to carry out additional tasks within your capability, in order to meet the needs of the business
You may be required to work additional hours if it is necessary for the proper performance of your duties
Sending out customer statements and copy invoices to the customers as required
Essential Skills and Experience

Previous experience with working for a similar consumer brand
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent and highly experienced with Excel including formulas and worksheets
Finance or Accountancy background with strong numerical skills
Must possess a diplomatic, polite and business-like manner
Well-organised individual used to working in a pressured environment
Basic understanding of double-entry book-keeping principles
Cashier experience – multi-currency
Dealing with export debtors – EMEA, USA and Far East
Excellent attention to detail
Has excellent initiate skills and highly self-motivated
Desirable skills and Experience

Experience using Microsoft Navision would be highly beneficial
Experience within a retail or manufacturing company
Part-qualified/Qualified ICM/AAT studier
