Job Specification: Site Manager
Location: Nationwide
Salary: 50,000 - 55,000 DOE + Package
Role Summary:
My client are seeking an experienced Site Manager to oversee the planning, execution, and successful delivery of construction projects in various sectors, including Education, Arts, Leisure, Retail, Health, Residential, and Industrial. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in managing projects of large sizes and complexities, ensuring all aspects of site operations are conducted safely, within time and budget, and to the highest quality standards.
The Site Manager will report directly to the Contracts Manager/Project Manager and will be responsible for managing all site activities through to project completion. This includes overseeing the construction team, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards, coordinating subcontractor efforts, and maintaining good relations with clients and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Coordination:
Oversee the full project lifecycle from design to completion, ensuring timely handover to the client.
Site Operations Management:
Manage day-to-day operations on-site, ensuring the project is completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
Team Management:
Supervise, motivate, and manage the site team, ensuring all members are effectively assigned roles and tasks. Manage subcontractors to ensure engagement and performance standards are met.
Health & Safety Compliance:
Conduct regular safety inspections, ensuring compliance with OHSAS 45001 and company policies. Lead toolbox briefings and uphold health and safety responsibilities on site.
Quality Control & Standards Compliance:
Ensure all work is completed in accordance with the building specifications, health and safety legislation, and quality standards. Implement environmental and waste management procedures as per ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards.
Scheduling & Resource Allocation:
Liaise with the Contracts Manager/Project Manager to maintain and update project timelines, ensuring adequate resources are allocated. Requisition materials and ensure deliveries align with the project's schedule.
Subcontractor Management:
Monitor and manage subcontractors' performance to ensure their work aligns with the master program and quality standards.
Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of all project activities and updates on Gateway software. Prepare regular reports for senior management and clients.
Experience & Qualifications:
Essential:
5+ years' experience in managing and coordinating construction projects.
3+ years' experience managing multi-disciplinary teams on large-scale projects.
Proven ability to manage subcontractors and ensure quality control on-site.
Experience in all phases of a construction project.
Experience in conducting Health and Safety assessments/inspections.
Strong ability to manage client expectations and deliverables.
Experience in preparing and presenting reports to management and clients.
Desirable:
Experience with appraisals and performance reviews.
Project management qualifications.
Membership or accreditation with the CIOB.
Education & Certifications:
Essential:
HND/HNC/BTEC or equivalent in a relevant construction-related field.
SSTS Card, SMSTS Card, CSCS Card, CSR Card, COSHH Accreditation.
Recognised First Aid at Work qualification.
Desirable:
Project management qualifications.
CIOB Accreditation.
Skills & Abilities:
Essential:
Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships.
Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
Proven ability to manage and motivate diverse teams.
Strong communication skills (both written and oral).
High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages.
Desirable:
Familiarity with Gateway software or similar project management systems.
Additional Requirements:
Eligibility to work within the UK.
Willingness to work away from home for extended periods, particularly for upcoming projects in Bristol.
Flexibility for weekend work, including every other Saturday for site supervisors.
A multi-sector construction background, with experience in projects valued between £20-70 million.
Ability to work on long-duration projects (15-28 months in length).
