Estimator / Surveyor | Facilities Management | Barrow-in-Furness / North West | £60,000 + £5K Car Allowance | 40 Hour Working Week

We are currently seeking an Estimator / Surveyor to join a leading provider of facilities management services. This is a site-based role in Barrow-in-Furness, with occasional travel required to other locations across the North West.

Duties: As an Estimator / Surveyor, you will be responsible for carrying out the following duties within the Commercial Building Services / Facilities Management industries:

* Cost Estimation: Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for facilities management services, including labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.

* Bid Management: Oversee the preparation of proposals and tender submissions, ensuring accuracy and alignment with client requirements.

* Resource Coordination: Collaborate with internal teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to gather pricing and ensure all project requirements are met.

* Market Knowledge: Stay informed about industry trends, competitor methodologies, and pricing structures to provide competitive and cost-effective estimates.

* Use of Estimating Software: Utilise estimating systems (e.g., BMF Estimating software) to verify bids, ensuring accuracy and consistency in all proposals.

* Client Liaison: Review client documentation and specifications to ensure full understanding of project requirements and accurately reflect them in estimates.

* Site Visits: Conduct site visits as needed to assess project scope, gather data, and refine cost estimates.

* Reporting & Performance Tracking: Maintain and update the project pipeline, ensuring timely reporting and performance measurement against established benchmarks.

* Tender Submission: Assist in formulating tender returns, ensuring all costings and resource allocation are aligned with client expectations and budget.

Requirements: As an Estimator / Surveyor, we are seeking the candidiate to meet the following requirements:

* Education: HNC/HND in a relevant discipline; a degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field is preferred.

* Experience:

* Proven experience as an Estimator, ideally within the facilities management (FM) industry or similar sectors.

* Strong experience in cost estimation, including labour, materials, and subcontractor pricing.

* Familiarity with SFG20 or similar industry standards is advantageous.

* Experience using BMF Estimating software or similar tools is a plus.

* Background in quantity surveying or estimating roles is essential.

Skills:

* Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

* Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.

* Ability to communicate effectively with clients and subcontractors.

* Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess risk and ensure estimates are competitive and realistic.

* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
