We are recruiting for an excellent opportunity to work for a leading and large housing association as their Service Charge Project Officer. This position is an ongoing temporary role (6 months minimum) and is paying £22.24 PAYE / £29.24 Umbrella - hybrid working (office based in North London).

This role focuses on managing and delivering service charge projects within the Places & Estates directorate. The primary responsibilities include leading projects related to historic service charge accounts, ensuring compliance with Section 20b notices, and delivering audit-ready results within a six-month timeframe. Collaboration with the Estate Operations Manager and other stakeholders is essential, particularly in reviewing accounts, handling resident complaints, and improving processes.

Key responsibilities and required experience include

Responsibilities:

Project Leadership: Managing service charge accounts through to completion and audit.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Working with Estate Operations Manager and other teams to address service charge issues and resident queries.
Resident Engagement: Responding to and resolving complaints and questions about service charges.
Documentation: Recording decisions and lessons learned during the review process.Required Skills and Experience:

Service Charge Expertise: Extensive experience with service charge regimes in large, mixed-tenure schemes, and understanding of variable service charge models.
Data Analysis: Strong skills in analysing complex service charge accounts, reconciling discrepancies, and presenting findings to stakeholders.
Legal Knowledge: Familiarity with tenancy agreements, leases, and specific aspects of the Landlord and Tenant Act (1985), especially regarding Section 19 (reasonableness of costs).
Communication: Ability to explain service charge issues to residents in plain English.
IT Skills: Proficient in Excel, with experience in handling large datasets.
RICS and ICAEW Knowledge: Good understanding of the RICS service charge residential code and ICAEW Tech 03/11 guidance.Desirable:

Leasehold Management Qualification: Ideally AIRPM (Association of Residential Managing Agents) or TPI Leasehold Management qualifications.This role demands a combination of technical, analytical, and interpersonal skills to ensure service charge projects are completed on time and to the required standards.
