We are looking to recruit a People Advisor to join our People team on a full time (37.5 hours per week), 12-month fixed term contract to cover maternity leave.

This role would work on a hybrid basis based at our Whitley office, but would require some travel. We see this role as operating 60% of the time from our Whitley office, 10% of the time in our Doncaster office, 5% from our Manchester office, and 25% of the time remotely.

Main Purpose of Role:

As our People Advisor you will be responsible for providing HR support and advice to colleagues and management. The role heavily focuses on providing operational employee relations case management across 3 UK sites (Whitley, Redhouse, and Manchester). In this role you will play a critical role in fostering a positive workplace culture and improving colleague satisfaction and performance.

The Ideal candidate:

To be successful in this role you will have proven previous experience in a HR/People Advisory role, used to handling employee relation cases, and with a strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice. You will be empathetic, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to problem solve and resolve conflicts effectively.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

Act as a point of contact for colleagues and management for people related queries and issues,

Provide employee relation (ER) case management support and guidance to line managers,

Mediate and resolve colleague conflicts and grievances,

Assist in the implementation of performance management framework,

Identify training and development needs and coordinate relevant interventions,

Support recruitment processes, including reviewing recruitment requests and offers,

Assist in the development of job descriptions and specifications,

Assist in the administration of reward and benefit programmes,

Support the annual salary review process,

Support in pay talks with trade unions,

Support the promotion and completion of the employee engagement survey,

Support line managers to develop and implement employee engagement action plans,

Maintain documentation and prepare reports as needed,

Provide support when required to the People Shared Services, such as supporting managing the inbox and general administration.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

Previous experience in an HR advisory role or similar position,

Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices,

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to convey information clearly and effectively

Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities,

Proficient in HR software and Microsoft Office Suite,

Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality,

Excellent planning skills, able to efficiently manage time and resources,

Have a high attention to detail, able to ensure accuracy in all HR processes and documentation,

Adaptable, able to respond to changing work environments and demands,

Previous experience of working with a trade union is desirable although not essential.
