We are currently recruiting for a Quality Engineer for a great client of ours located in the Fylde Region.
Position: Quality Engineer
Location: Fylde
Reporting to: Quality Manager
Purpose of the job:
To ensure product conformance to specifications by providing the necessary facilities for inspection and testing. Responsibilities include recruiting and training technicians and auditors to evaluate and resolve borderline or debatable issues, developing systems to support product and process needs, and creating auditing plans for product and process realization. This will be performed in line with the applicable requirements of the Quality Management System (IATF/ISO/TS16949), Health and Safety standards (ISO14001; OHSAS18001), and any other relevant management system requirements.
Main Responsibilities and Duties:
* Identify customer requirements and translate them into process and product specifications.
* Handle the control and analysis of customer complaints.
* Develop measurement systems and tools to evaluate performance characteristics.
* Create action plans for the realization of improvement projects.
* Review customer drawings to determine key characteristics requiring control.
* Develop and document suitable controls for these characteristics on control plans.
* Implement these controls within the process, providing appropriate training to all stakeholders.
* Review the nature of complaints and establish clear problem descriptions.
* Implement containment actions to prevent further rejections.
* Conduct investigations to determine root causes and implement permanent corrective actions.
* Provide timely feedback to customers regarding the progress in resolving concerns.
* Develop and formalize gauge concepts and manage their manufacturing with subcontractors.
* Maintain gauge control systems and ensure ongoing statistical process control.
* Ensure compliance with ethical, H&S regulations, and company procedures.
* Oversee the Environmental Management System within your area of responsibility.
* Validate the effectiveness of corrective actions and manage quality-related statistics.
* Perform advanced quality planning and maintain control over measuring and test equipment.
* Conduct formalized audits of processes and products, and initiate corrective actions as needed.
* Provide process performance feedback to support new product development.
* Attend APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) meetings when required.
* Ensure all gauges and measuring equipment are calibrated and in good working order.
* Hold authority to stop production if part quality issues or non-conformance to QMS procedures are detected.
Relationships (Main Customers/Suppliers):
External: Suppliers; support for external customer visits.
Internal: Production, Quality, Inspection departments.
Minimum Requirements:
Education:
* Engineering Diploma or equivalent.
Experience & Training:
* HNC or equivalent experience.
* Three years’ experience in a quality role.
* Knowledge of quality systems, statistical methods, and principles of control.
* Continuous improvement (CI) experience, with exposure to supplier management.
The company is open to candidates with a background in quality or manufacturing engineering with relevant experience.
