My client is looking for an Architect Lead for a new role based in Canary Wharf. Candidate must have strong experience as a Software Engineer and still be hands on.

The Architect Lead is responsible for leading the architectural design and development of complex software systems. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to understand requirements, developing high-level product specifications, and ensuring system integration and compliance with best practices and industry standards. The Architect Lead will guide a team of architects and engineers, driving innovation and ensuring technical excellence. Responsible for leading the business through various transformational delivery solutions towards a digital-first philosophy and ultimately growth of our systems and tech services. Working closely with Senior Managers and key stakeholders across the business to drive collaboration and communication between various teams. Working with our Architecture, Infrastructure, Delivery and Data teams, and then being able to drive decision-making processes that translate into highly technical documentation.

Responsible for documenting the technical and data architecture of the “as-is” and “to-be” solutions.

Responsible for ensuring that solutions proposed by a project meet the strategic objectives of the product or service.

*

Documenting the non-functional requirements across the different solutions.

*

Accountable for ensuring the correct technical solutions and products are chosen.

*

Accountable for ensuring chosen solutions meet the business, functional and non-functional requirements.

*

Ensuring the technical transition approach meets the business requirements.

*

Responsible for documenting the technology landscape, interfaces and data flow.

*

Supporting solution ownership within the operating model.

*

Ensuring that any project delivery meets the architecture strategy and policies.

*

Responsible for developing and maintaining a clear roadmap for adopting new features.

*

Responsible for managing the technical risks across any project, product or service.

*

Responsible for ensuring that the strategies and architecture policies are followed.

*

Line management/hiring/development of Solutions Architect(s) and administrative support.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Essential:

*

At least 2 years of line management experience (postholder will manage 3-5 reportees).

*

2+ years of experience in solution architecture or similar roles with significant exposure to architecture documentation standards.

*

A Bachelor's/Masters degree in a STEM role.

*

Expertise working as a Software Engineer who has built software solutions.

Desirable:

*

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

*

Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).

*

Proficiency in multiple programming languages (e.g., Java, Python).

*

Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, TOGAF) are a plus.

*

Experience designing and/or building Financial systems.

*

Experience in using enterprise architecture modelling tools.

*

Experience working with multiple and external stakeholder parties.

IT software-related qualifications and systems analysis
