SEN Learning Support Assistant

Full time or Part time temporary

Start date: ASAP

We are looking for experienced, committed flexible SEND Learning Support Assistants that are wanting flexible temporary work assignments in special schools around the Wakefield area. These placements are to cover sickness or maternity and can sometimes lead to a permanent placement.

This would suit individuals already working with children with special educational needs or individuals currently studying an educational degree or Health and social care. You will be required to have some experience and understanding of working in a special school or similar setting.

Job Spec & description:

Minimal qualification requirements are: Teaching assistant level two, GNVQ level two Health & Social care, Degree in Education and SEND.
Understanding and knowledge of the differentiated Special Educational Needs.
Knowledge of complex learning disabilities, Autism, Downs Syndrome, global developmental delay, speech impairment, hearing impairment, profound learning difficulties, Pathological avoidance disorder and severe learning difficulties.
Willing to do personalcare if needed.
Flexible and adaptable for last minute early morning call if needed.
Clear oral communication skills are highly important especially for those children with hearing impairment.
Enhanced DBS on the subscription service, or willing to apply for a new one.
A strong desire to support children in need staying resilient in difficult situations.
Be ready to get involved with the children, build relationships while taking direction from the class teacher.
