Long Term Futures is working in partnership with a specialist Post-16 SEN provision in Edgware to appoint a committed and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant. This full-time role is ideal for someone with experience supporting young people aged 16-19 with Autism (ASD) and other complex learning needs.
You'll work closely with students in both classroom and community settings, helping them build the life skills and confidence needed for greater independence.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with Autism and additional needs
Support students with life skills, communication development, and independence training, including in real-life scenarios such as travel, shopping, or cooking
Assist with literacy, numeracy, and functional/vocational learning, tailored to individual EHCPs
Implement visual aids, structured routines, and assistive communication tools
Use positive behaviour strategies to support emotional regulation and engagement
Work alongside teachers, therapists, and inclusion staff to promote progress and well-being
Ideal Candidate:
Experience working with SEN learners, ideally with ASD in a Post-16 or secondary setting
Calm, adaptable and able to support students with communication or behaviour challenges
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trust with young people
Relevant qualifications such as Level 2/3 TA, Health & Social Care or equivalent (desirable)
