As an experienced Engine Electronic Engineer, you will be working on several electronic system projects to develop systems that meet both regulatory and customer requirements. Working on the integration of electronic and electrical systems within multiple products provides the opportunity to work with multiple disciplines within the organisation.
The Integrated Components and Solutions team offers some of the most exciting engineering roles and the Engine Systems Team is part of the Electronics European Division responsible for the development and implementation of Electrical and Electronic control systems for Powertrains developed in the UK.
Engine Electronic Engineer Role:
Your role will be primary technical support for the Engine Electronic system. It will entail proactively working with other Electronics team members and with development partners, on the complete product development lifecycle of Development prior to production through to post-production maintenance to:
• Participate in the definition of the system architecture and related diagrams and schematics.
• Participate in the selection of suitable electronic components.
• Participate in the failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) and validation activities for the electronic system and components. Maintaining & improve validation test plans.
• Provide technical support to queries related to pinouts, schematic questions and software functionality support.
• Investigate /Analyse / troubleshoot any reported quality issues.
Primarily an office-based role but with time required in an Electronics lab and in engine test cells and machines.
Engine Electronic Engineer Requirements:
Essential:
• Degree-qualified engineer with several years post-graduation experience in the broad range of systems engineering activities involved in the development of Electronic Engine, machine or automotive control systems. Alternatively, a suitably aligned HNC/NVQ level 4 with additional relevant experience as shown below.
• Demonstrated experience of:
o Integration activities of the system for both fault finding and for electronic system design i.e.: down to PWM, analogue and communications signals and experience of how to integrate the electronic components together.
o Actively collecting and developing detailed Electronic related customer requirements, resulting in electronic technical specifications.
o Defining Electronic features and coordinating the development of them by other teams.
o Performing system verification testing of components and of software features
o Participation in FMEA development.
• Understanding internal combustion engines and how they are controlled – Governor etc.
• Ability to build strong working relationships, locally and within a Global team.
Desirable:
• Off-highway electronic control system development experience (or comparable experience with automotive, marine or military vehicle control systems).
• Knowledge of engine systems associated to the electronic system e.g.: Fuel and Air system etc.
• Requirements management (DOORS, Teamcenter etc.).
• Controller Area Networks (CAN), Vector CANape and CANalyzer tool experience.
• Proficient in oscilloscope use in development.
• Product structuring and configuration tools e.g.: Siemens Teamcentre Engineering, Creo.
• PPAP or FMEA facilitator and design validation planning experience.
