Position: Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer
Salary: £42,000
Shift Pattern: 4 on / 4 off - 12-hour shifts (6am-6pm and 6pm-6am)

We are seeking a proactive, skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our production team in Birmingham. This hands-on role ensures the efficient, safe, and smooth operation of our equipment and facilities.

Role Overview
You’ll oversee daily maintenance, swiftly address any machinery breakdowns, and conduct planned maintenance when production lines are down. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you'll also help strengthen communication across departments to support production targets and promote food safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

* Log daily maintenance tasks

* Maintain base conditions on production lines for optimal productivity

* Complete reactive and planned maintenance efficiently

* Escalate breakdowns over 15 minutes to leadership as needed

* Adhere to 5S standards and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)

* Promote continuous improvement through Kaizen methodology

* Line Supervisors, Machine Operators, and Quality team

Performance Indicators

* Quick response and root-cause analysis on breakdowns

* Completion of planned maintenance tasks

* Quality and safety standards met consistently

* Efficient timekeeping and response to downtime

Skills & Experience

* Able to work both independently and collaboratively

* Strong problem-solving and communication skills

* Background in both mechanical and electrical engineering (50/50)

* Experience with high-speed packaging machinery in FMCG

* Familiarity with PLC systems and 5S practices

Qualifications

* General education, electrical or mechanical qualifications preferred
