About the Role
As an SEMH HLTA, you will:
* Work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to deliver tailored support for pupils with SEMH needs.
* Develop and implement behaviour management strategies to support students in accessing learning.
* Plan and deliver small group or one-on-one interventions to help students improve their emotional and social well-being.
* Support in creating an inclusive classroom environment that encourages positive behaviour and engagement.
* Act as a role model, fostering a nurturing and positive atmosphere for learning.
* Work collaboratively with external agencies, parents, and staff to ensure that individual needs are met effectively.
* Contribute to the assessment and monitoring of pupils’ progress, adapting approaches as needed.
Key Requirements
The successful candidate will have:
* Experience working with children and young people with SEMH needs, ideally within a school setting.
* HLTA status or equivalent qualification (essential).
* A solid understanding of safeguarding procedures.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues.
* Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting young people facing social and emotional challenges.
* Confidence in managing challenging behaviour in a positive and constructive manner.
* A proactive and flexible approach to problem-solving.
