Job Duties:
Prepare cost estimates for materials, labour, and equipment
Conduct site visits and evaluations to gather data for pricing
Analyse blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labour estimates
Negotiate contracts with suppliers and subcontractors
Monitor project progress and costs to ensure budget compliance
Prepare and submit progress and cost reports to management
Resolve any discrepancies or issues related to costs and contracts
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying or related field
Professional accreditation (e.g. RICS) preferred
Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the engineering industry
Strong analytical and mathematical skills
Excellent negotiation and communication abilities
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying or related field
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the engineering industry
Knowledge and Skills:
Proficient in cost estimating and budget management
Knowledge of construction methods and materials
Strong understanding of contract law and negotiation techniques
Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
Excellent IT skills, including MS Excel and project management software
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional accreditation such as RICS
Postgraduate qualification in Quantity Surveying
Working Conditions:
Office-based work with occasional site visits
Full-time hours, Monday to Friday
Travel within the South East England region may be required
