About the role
As an experienced Head of department you will be the Supply Chain authority for the business, have a hands on lead role managing our inbound product supply and inbound logistics network.
You will be responsible for managing the day to day supply chain activities, utilisng a small dedicated team driving demand planning, supply planning and product life cycles. You will manage collaborative relationships with suppliers and vendors, implementing best in class activities and initiatives to provide best in class product availability with tight working capital constraints.
The role will manage 3PL inbound logistics providers, and work alongside our planning / operations teams to deliver excellent service levels; you will look for cost saving and service level improvement opportunities and help drive the end to end supply chain.
We are looking for a strong supply chain professional and people person who is looking for a challenge, and keen to get more involved in wider supply chain practices.
Key activities
o Supply Chain input and commentary into Executive and Senior Management teams as required
o Provide strategic and tactical direction to Supply Chain team
o Set, monitor and report department and individual level objectives and targets to support overall business strategy
o Responsible for management and development of the Supply Chain team members with a focus on maximising their contribution to our company in a culture of continuous improvement
o Provide Supply Chain input into projects and business teams across our company
o Understand, maintain and manipulate Supply Chain tools in Microsoft Dynamics 365 for forecasting, ordering and managing stock and availability across multiple depots, suppliers and products
o Extract, analyze and report on Supply Chain key measures and targets
o Provide framework and access to data to inform Supply Chain team ordering decisions
o Manage contractual relationships with third party freight management providers to maintain haulage routes from key European suppliers into both UK depots and other locations as required.
o Review and re-tender freight management contract at the end of each contract term to maintain competitive rates and performance targets across multiple providers
o Monitor and manage stock levels in both depots within agreed constraints of space, financial cover days and cash value
o Manage stock balance between depots to maintain availability to business target levels
o Collaborate closely with our in-house warehouse and transport team to ensure end to end efficiencies
o Liaise with sales, NPD and marketing, to drive and manage product migration, new listing, delisting and promotional processes
o Oversee production and submission of Customs declarations, import and export documents and associated paperwork in line with existing and proposed legislation
Key skills
o Mimimum 3 years in a similar Head of Supply Chain role
o Strong negotiation skills
o Excellent Excel knowledge
o Knowledge of and experience with forecasting and ERP systems, ideally Microsoft Dynamics365
o Strong analytical and reporting skills
o Team leadership and development
o Ability to plan at both long term, strategic, and short term, tactical level
o Strong personality able to interact with and influence the Senior Management up to Board level
