Design Engineer- Hertfordshire

Our client is a well-established contractor with a robust nationwide presence across the residential, commercial, healthcare, utility, data centre, and industrial sectors which has a comprehensive order book fully secured for 2025. Due to continued growth, our client is now looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Design Engineer with extensive experience in the water utility or gas utility sector to start in late January 2025. As Design Engineer you will play a critical role in designing and optimising utility systems, ensuring efficiency, reliability, and compliance with quality and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities & Requirements:

Develop detailed designs for utility systems with focus on water utility and review technical drawings, schematics, and specifications ensuring designs meet project requirements, client needs, and regulatory standards.

Work closely with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to understand project goals and scope to ensure seamless project execution.

Analyse existing utility systems to identify areas for improvement and present innovative solutions to enhance performance, reliability, and sustainability.
*
Perform complex technical analyses to optimise utility systems and identify potential issues early in the design process.
*
Participate in site visits to verify installation compliance with design and conduct inspections for quality assurance and system performance.
*
Serve as the main point of contact for utility design aspects, collaborating with clients, architects, and project teams to address project needs and expectations.
*
Prepare and manage relevant reports, drawings, and documentation ready for review or submission to senior management.
*
Degree/qualification in Mechanical/ Civil Engineering.
*
Significant experience as a Design Engineer with focus on the water utility sector or gas utility background.
*
Proficiency in AutoCAD, BIM 360, Revit, and other relevant utility design software and tools.
*
Strong understanding of water utility systems and their operational requirements.
*
Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail and ability to work independently or within a team.

With a clean driving licence and be able to spend a few days away when required.
