Job Title: Facilities Maintenance Engineer

Working hours: 37hours per week
09:00 to 17:00hrs Mon to Thurs
Fri 09:00 to 16:30hrs
Role Overview:
We are seeking a Facilities Maintenance Engineer to ensure the smooth operation, maintenance, and safety of our facilities. This role involves managing daily functions, overseeing repairs, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and optimising resource use to maintain a safe and efficient working environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Building Maintenance:
Oversee maintenance and repairs of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and structural integrity.
Conduct regular inspections to identify and address maintenance issues.
Schedule routine maintenance tasks to prevent breakdowns.
Equipment Management:
Ensure all essential equipment is operational.
Maintain an inventory of equipment and arrange for necessary replacements or upgrades.
Health & Safety Compliance:
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including fire safety and emergency procedures.
Conduct risk assessments and implement measures to minimise workplace hazards.
Vendor and Contractor Management:
Manage relationships with external contractors for cleaning, security, and repairs.
Supervise on-site contractors to ensure work meets required standards.
Budgeting and Cost Control:
Assist in managing the facilities budget to ensure cost-effective solutions.
Track expenses and identify opportunities for cost reduction.
Space Management:
Oversee the allocation of space within the building, coordinating with department heads on workspace needs.
Emergency Response:
Develop emergency response procedures and coordinate drills.
Act as the primary contact for facility-related emergencies.Qualifications:
Proven experience in building maintenance or facilities management.
Electrical apprenticeship or equivalent with at least 5 years of commercial experience (17th edition or above).
Knowledge of health and safety regulations and building codes.
Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Ability to work collaboratively with contractors, vendors, and internal teams.
Technical knowledge of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems is a plus.
Budget management experience is preferred.
Strong communication and motivational skills.
Must hold a full clean driving license; forklift or cherry picker license is desirable but not essential.Working Conditions:
