The Role: 

The Data Strategy, Capability and Oversight Team (DSCO) sits at the heart of Border Force’s transformation journey and is responsible for setting the direction for our strategic approach to data including the future operating model. Our teams also deliver the business-critical functions of obtaining and quality assuring data from external partners to support frontline and intelligence colleagues and ensuring that Border Force is legally compliant in the collection, storage, exploitation, and disposal of data.

DSCO aims to mature Border Force’s data capabilities, to improve BF’s management of its data and information, and better support effective decision-making. This role will involve providing support to the Portfolio Managers in relation to planning, milestones, dependencies, risk and issues.

Responsibilities:

Planning and scheduling

Project identification and prioritisation plans

Benefits mapping

Identify and categorise existing and new projects.

Co-ordinate reporting from projects and provide analysis of performance.

Provide secretariat for governance boards as required

Maintain portfolio delivery map and critical path to monitor project progress.

Recognise and track interdependencies across projects.

Identify and monitor portfolio risks (threats and opportunities) and escalate as appropriate.

Skills & Experience:

You will have the following skills or experience:

Proven experience of working in a programme or portfoilio environment Portfolio Benefits management

Experience of planning, governance and risk or has experience of managing a project, programme or strand of activity

Excellent communication skills and a proven ability to draft accurately and concisely at pace.    

Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise your workload and deliver to a high standard whilst managing conflicting priorities and deadlines.

The ability to work in an environment of ambiguity and change and adopt a proactive and flexible approach to your areas of responsibilities. 

Self-motivated, flexible, organised and able to work independently with limited supervision.
