Every other Sunday 11:00 to 18:00
(Totalling 35 hours over a 2 week period)

RATE OF PAY: £14.07 weekdays
£16.19 weekends

JOB DESCRIPTION:
We are seeking a female support worker to provide assistance in everyday activities to a lady in her early 50’s with an acquired brain injury and complex needs.
Our client lives with her parents and pet dog (applicant must be comfortable in the presence of a dog), in the Rochdale area. She enjoys films and DVDs, crafts, swimming, pottery, and varied days out. Our client is in need of an experienced and age-appropriate support worker, who will support her to undertake activities in the home and community.
Working under the supervision of the Case Manager and Team Leader. Working as a member of a support team, providing support with everyday activities and meeting the needs of the client as requested in line with her Care Plan. For the most part this is a lone working position, working 1:1 with the client.
Full clean driving licence is essential. Support staff are required to drive the client’s own manual vehicle.
Previous support worker experience is essential.
NVQ 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent is preferred but not essential.

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

To support the client with daily living tasks as outlined in the care plan.
*
To provide prompts to the client when necessary.
*
To respect the client’s family and work in partnership with them.
*
To be aware of the client’s dietary needs and be confident in preparing and cooking bespoke meals.
*
To be aware of the client’s overall health and follow care plans and guidance.
*
To encourage and support the client to participate in activities in the home and community.
*
To understand the importance of routine and to support the client to maintain her routine.
*
To drive the client in her own vehicle.
*
To attend medical appointments with the client, as required.
*
To maintain the client’s safety and well-being in accordance with risk assessments and the care plan, but to also use initiative where necessary.

To understand the client’s psychological/emotional needs and to use appropriate strategies, as advised.
*
To communicate and interact with the client in a way that is appropriate for her needs.
*
To undertake medication management and related tasks.
*
To complete daily reports and verbal handovers.

To attend regular 1:1 supervision with Team Leader or Case Manager.

To attend staff meetings and complete training as necessary
