Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a well-established company in the water and wastewater sector. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced engineer proficient in SolidWorks and AutoCAD to take on a senior role, providing leadership and guidance while working on complex projects.
Responsibilities:
* Lead mechanical design aspects from conceptual design to final delivery.
* Collaborate with project teams to ensure efficient working methods and project profitability.
* Oversee mechanical design elements for all company projects.
* Develop specifications, schedules, and scope for project equipment.
* Manage scoping, tendering, and on-site delivery processes, ensuring design requirements are met.
* Formulate design parameters, testing procedures, and implementation strategies.
* Conduct site surveys, troubleshoot, and ensure smooth project execution.
* Mentor and guide junior engineers throughout the design process.
* Solve complex design challenges and implement improvements.
* Ensure proper administration of field tests with quality monitoring techniques.
* Complete all required project documentation (proposals, specifications, testing, and commissioning).
* Manage project budgets, schedules, and resource allocation.
* Ensure compliance with company policies, OH&S, environmental, and health & safety regulations.
Requirements:
* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
* 5+ years’ experience in mechanical design, ideally within the UK water sector.
* Proficient in SolidWorks and AutoCAD, with expertise in CAD rendering, animations, and modelling.
* Proven ability to handle complex designs with a solutions-oriented mindset.
* Strong project management and organisational skills.
* Proactive, detail-oriented, and a positive, flexible approach to work.
* Excellent problem-solving skills with a track record of successful project delivery.
* Experience mentoring junior engineers and collaborating on design challenges.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Practical field experience with a strong understanding of CDM regulations and health & safety.
* Nuclear (Aquilla), SSE, SGN, or Construction experience preferred.
* Valid UK driving licence (full, clean).
* CSCS card and confined spaces training (preferred).
What This is Offering:
* Salary of £55,000 - £65,000, depending on experience.
