Due to our growth plans, we’re now seeking a proactive Finance Assistant / Finance Manager to join our Head Office team in Rochdale on a 3 day a week basis. You’ll play a key role in supporting the Directors and Senior Management Team, managing the financial aspects of the business with a focus on improving processes and ensuring accurate reporting. This role provides the opportunity to shape and develop the finance function of the business.

As we continue to grow, your contributions will be critical to ensuring our financial operations run smoothly and effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

* Prepare and provide accurate financial information on a monthly and ad hoc basis for the Directors and Senior Management.

* Produce and present management accounts with commentary for board meetings.

* Oversee the sales ledger, ensuring invoices are issued and recorded correctly in our system.

* Manage Xero software, ensuring correct coding of purchases, customer records, and credit limits.

* Apply and monitor yearly budgets, producing reports on performance vs budget.

* Maintain the fixed asset register and ensure depreciation is accounted for.

* Review and control the chart of accounts for accuracy.

* Manage the company’s debtors and perform credit checks on new or high-risk accounts.

* Reconcile the bank weekly and manage cash flow and payment runs.

* Prepare and submit VAT returns, liaising with HMRC as required.

* Work closely with the company accountants, preparing year-end accounts and collating payroll information.

* Liaise with suppliers, customers, and the company pension provider.

Requirements:

* Prior experience in a similar finance role is essential; a financial qualification is desired but not required.

* Strong numerical and analytical skills with high attention to detail.

* Experience using Xero accounting software.

* Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.

* Strong communication skills, comfortable engaging with all levels of the business.

* Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.

* Confidence in taking ownership of financial processes and driving improvements
