Job Summary

The job description is for an individual to carry out two roles on the project:

Fire Coordinator
The Fire Coordinator is responsible for ensuring fire safety measures are implemented and adhered to on the construction site. They play a critical role in preventing and managing fire incidents, safeguarding personnel, equipment, and property. Develop and implement emergency response plans in coordination with relevant authorities. Conduct fire drills and training sessions to prepare personnel for emergencies. Maintain firefighting equipment and ensure its readiness for use.

Working at Height Coordinator
The Working at Height Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that the projects work at heigh activities are in line with the Working at height standard. They play a critical role in preventing and managing working at height incidents. This is achieved by close coordination with the project’s Subcontractors and the key members of the MDjv team such as the fire coordinator, security coordinator, construction lead & logistics lead.

Key Responsibilities
The Fire Coordinator will be responsible for the management of the following:
Set up of site fire safety systems including main and satellite accommodation.
Ensuring compliance with the clients fire standard, HSG168 and the JCoP 10th edition. Coordination of liaison and visits with the local WMFS stations.
Management of the JV fire marshals.
Management of the HWP process on site.
Liaise with vehicle holding area regarding fire safety measures. (VHA off site).
Waste Management. (avoiding build-up of combustible waste)
Maintain a database of fire trained, competent operatives and managers on site.
Custodian of the Fire Safety Plan and update as required.
Custodian of the Fire Risk Assessment and update as required.
Review/ Approve Sub-Contractors Fire Risk Assessment and ensure that periodic reviews are undertaken as required.

The Working at Height Coordinator will be responsible for the management of the following:
Coordinate the development of the project working at Height plan in line with the Working at Height Standard.
Confirm that the Working at Height Plan is reviewed by the project team each month and/or following a change to how working at height needs to occur. Include design requirements for eliminating the need to work at height, where possible
Communication of the requirements of the Working at Height Standard and the Working at Height Plan to relevant MDjv employees and contractors operating on the project.
Confirm that contractor’s operatives, supervisors and JV employees will have the correct competency levels for working at height. [OC2]
Confirm that adequate staffing levels and resources are available to meeting the requirements of the Working at Height Standard.
Implement appropriate action with any trade contractor who is failing to comply with JV Working at Height Standard and/or local regulations.
Confirm formal handover arrangements are in place between contractors and JV
Monitor compliance with the Working at Height Standard and Project Working at Height Plan through inspections and audits on YellowJacket. Record findings on YellowJacket and track close out.
