Our local government client is recruiting an employee relations adviser for schools to provide high-quality end-to-end human resources advice, guidance, and support service to the headteacher, governors, school business managers, staff, and related stakeholders.

Responsibility

Provide expert advice to headteachers/leaders on the application of the school’s policies, pay, and conditions of service, as well as the legal and best practice implications of employment issues. Support and undertake casework on various human resources issues, including discipline, capability, absence, and grievance.

Qualification – Essential

* GCSE Grade A-C (or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics.

* A degree level of education or professional experience in the relevant specialism.

* CIPD qualification or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience.

* Advanced –Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Social Media.

Essential - Skills, Abilities, & Experience

* Experience advising on and supporting restructures, redundancies, TUPE and deployment, and good knowledge of ET processes.

* Experience working in a unionised environment and building positive and productive relationships with unions.

* Experience providing high-quality professional HR advice and guidance on complex employment issues.

* Good working knowledge of current employment legislation and its application in the workplace.

* Knowledge of ER procedures and processes, such as employment tribunals.

* Ability to maintain an up-to-date knowledge of HR best practices, trends and employment legislation.

* Good interpersonal and influencing skills with the ability to build credibility and effective working relationships with key stakeholders and colleagues.

* Ability to interpret and communicate complex information.

* Effective written and communication skills, including business cases, report writing, and presentation skills.

* Flexible, proactive and able to work under pressure

* Ability to organise, prioritise and manage own workload

Essential Compliance Requirements

* 5 Years References

* DBS check

* A pre-engagement screening is mandatory for this role.
