Job Title: Senior Water Hygiene Engineer

Location: Midlands (primarily Derby and Nottingham), with national coverage as needed

Salary: £28,000 - £32,000 per annum

Benefits: Company vehicle, tools, comprehensive training, 32 days holiday (including bank holidays), overtime pay (1.5x on Saturdays, double time on Sundays), occasional overnight stays covered.

About the Role:

We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a respected company in the water hygiene industry, for an experienced Senior Water Hygiene Engineer. The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of industry experience and be a qualified plumber (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent). This role requires working on a variety of water systems to ensure compliance with ACoP L8 and other relevant standards. Based in the Midlands, this role involves scheduled work and occasional reactive duties, with travel nationally as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct routine water hygiene tasks, such as legionella risk assessments, tank inspections, and monitoring per ACoP L8 guidelines

Service and maintain water systems, including closed systems, cooling towers, and other water infrastructure

Monitor and analyse system performance to ensure optimal water quality and safety

Accurately document findings, reports, and actions taken

Participate in ongoing training to keep skills and knowledge up to industry standards

Requirements:

At least 10 years of experience in water hygiene engineering

NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in plumbing

Proven experience with closed systems, water quality monitoring, and cooling tower maintenance (ideal but not essential)

Strong knowledge of water hygiene regulations and industry best practices

Proactive, competent, and able to work independently
