Our client, a prominent consultancy in the rail communications sector, is currently looking for a Principal Telecoms Engineer with significant design experience in Rail of Station Information Systems (SISS) and ideally Operational Communications Systems. This is a contract role, initially for three months, but with the possibility of extension. Based ideally in York, but other locations across the UK will also be considered. Expectation is to be in office/site/client office two days per week, with the remainder of the time working from home.
Key Responsibilities:
Leading the design team in the production of Optioneering studies, Outline, and Detailed designs as per NR GRIP/PACE procedures
Supporting and advising the design team with proficiency in Bentley MicroStation
Meeting the requirements of NR/L2/RSE/02009
Producing and overseeing designs for Station Information Systems including CCTV, Public Address/Voice Alarm, Wi-Fi, Customer Information Systems, and Ticket Vending Systems
Carrying out design and acting as the Contractor's Responsible Engineer (CRE) role for Operational Telecom systems, including Cable Route Design, Copper & Optical Fibre cable design, Telephone (Analogue/IP), IP Data Networks (FTNx), and GSM-R
Assisting with site surveys with the use of Personal Track Safety (PTS) certification
Job Requirements:
Experience in the design of Rail Station Information Systems (SISS)
Ideally, experience with Operational Communications Systems
Proficiency in Bentley MicroStation
Previous approval and experience working as a CRE
Understanding of NR/L2/RSE/02009 requirements
PTS (Personal Track Safety) certification for site surveys
Ability to collaborate effectively with remote working and periodic site visits
